Rachelle & Beau Davis

Married October 19, 20132013-10- 19 Beau & Rachelle-1629
Rachelle and Beau met in college as neighbors. When Beau proposed, Rachelle knew that planning their wedding was going to be an absolute blast. She knew the style she was going for and went all in. Rachelle had a to-do list of what their priorities were, what the theme would be, and deadlines to keep the couple on task.2013-10- 19 Beau & Rachelle-1601
She knew how to make her and Beau’s “Pinterest” dream wedding a reality, but tackling each task one at a time, staying organized, and really exploring new creative outlets wasn’t something either had ever experienced before.2013-10- 19 Beau & Rachelle-13632013-10- 19 Beau & Rachelle-1410
The decision to have the wedding at Winchester Country Club in Meadow Vista, California was made so that Rachelle and Beau’s out-of-state guests could fly in close to the venue and see some outdoor beauty while visiting for the wedding. The bridal party fashion was an Anthropolgie-inspired, relaxed, eclectic feel because Rachelle wanted every choice in the wedding to be a reflection of her and Beau’s unique tastes. They like to mix it UP2013-10- 19 Beau & Rachelle-14102013-10- 19 Beau & Rachelle-1410!

One of the biggest challenges they faced was finding a get-away car! After months of researching someone in the Auburn area for an antique car, they found a sweet man that kindly acted as their chauffeur.
Rachelle and Beau’s wedding was an absolute dream come true for the bride, leaving her hoping that every woman could sit back and say that about their wedding day. One feeling that Rachelle could put into words about their ceremony and reception: pure bliss. As many couples say, take mental snapshots of the entire event because it really does move so quickly, and is over before you know it.

‘Tis the Season…Engagement Season

Eye Candy_BridalCoutureMag
‘Tis the season…engagement season, that is! From Thanksgiving until Valentine’s Day, couples will be getting engaged left and right (and all over Facebook). As we head into another season filled with sparkly rings and viral video proposals, here are three trends we’re really hoping to see.
1. Women getting involved in the proposal.
Lately we’ve been seeing more straight women proposing to their guys and/or buying them engagement rings, and we hope this trend continues to grow! First, because the whole “waiting for a proposal” thing is downright torturous for a lot of women…but also because planning a proposal and buying a ring is simply fun, and too many women are missing out! (Not sure you are comfortable proposing to a guy? Consider proposing back — i.e. planning your own special date night and presenting him with a ring in the weeks after he proposes to you.)

2. Low-key proposals.
Hey, there’s nothing wrong with a flash mob, but a proposal isn’t a competition. Rather than trying to create the most over-the-top, totally-gonna-go-viral proposal spectacle imaginable, some couples just want to do something a little more…chill. And if that’s your thing, you shouldn’t have to worry that your proposal isn’t “good enough.” In the past couple of years, we’ve seen more and more couples skipping some of traditional aspects of weddings and opting for authentic and meaningful weddings instead, and we expect to see more couples choosing small, private, and meaningful engagements in 2014.

3. Thinking beyond the ring.
While some women love jewelry and are super excited about the idea of a shiny new ring as an engagement gift, there are plenty of women who aren’t crazy about it. But there’s no rule that says a ring has to accompany a proposal! We’d like to see more couples embracing non-traditional engagement gifts that feel right to them. Whether it’s a down payment on a condo, a fabulous trip, or a cool piece of art, the only real requirement is that it’s meaningful to the couple. The world is ready for creative engagement gifts…seriously, who could say no to an engagement puppy?!

Paul Walker’s Anonymous Gift To Soldier and Fiancee

SANTA BARBARA (CBSLA.com) — Paul Walker was best known for his movies and fast cars, but a former Santa Barbara jewelry store clerk will remember him most for his generosity.

Several years ago during the holiday season, Irene King says, an associate nudged her and said, “There’s Paul Walker.”

“Oh, OK, yeah,” King said with a smile. “I said, ‘Yeah, he’s a nice-looking man.’”

“The Fast and the Furious” star was shopping in the store at the same time as a soldier who had just finished up his first tour of duty in Iraq. The soldier was heading overseas again and was shopping with his fiancee, looking at engagement rings.

“She saw something that she really, really liked, but he said, ‘Honey, I can’t afford that,’” King said.

That “something” was a $10,000 engagement set, King said. Walker had overheard the conversation.

“He called the manager and he said, ‘Umm, the ring that those people are looking at – put it on my tab,’” King remembered. “Soon after that, he just left.”

When the couple asked whom to thank, the store said it was an anonymous gift.

King and the jewelry store’s employees kept the secret for more than a decade. But with Walker’s death, they want the world to know of his generosity.

King’s son retold the story on his Facebook page after news spread of Walker’s death.

“To do something like that to a perfect stranger is just unbelievable,” King said.
