Shortly after the excitement of the holidays and celebrating their engagement, the couple decided on an August wedding and the planning began. Both Christina and James come from large Dutch families with farming backgrounds, and so they chose an elegant style wedding in a country setting.

In the presence of 240 of their closest friends and family the couple married at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Riverbank, CA where Christina’s family has been parishioners for 20+ years. The reception followed at James’ grandma’s private residence, which also occupies his father’s heifer ranch, in Oakdale, CA.

The reception was set with a mix of rectangular farm tables and round white linen tables, mercury glass and neutral toned flowers. Market lighting and market umbrellas lit up the night. It was perfect weather, the kind of weather that most brides hope for. Delft “kissing couple” wedding topper and a late night brick over pizza. It was an open bar, with fantastic napa wines. All the Dutch cousins singing God Bless America.

The Bride quoted “I could not have asked for a more beautiful day, it ended up being everything I imagined it to be and more. It was a perfect representation of who James and I are, and we could not have done it with our family, friends, and hardworking vendors. Thank you!”

WASHINGTON — In a long-sought victory for the gay rights movement, the Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage.

Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote the majority opinion in the 5 to 4 decision. He was joined by the court’s four more liberal justices.

The decision, the culmination of decades of litigation and activism, came against the backdrop of fast-moving changes in public opinion, with polls indicating that most Americans now approve of same-sex marriage.

Justice Kennedy said gay and lesbian couples had a fundamental right to marry.

“No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family,” he wrote. “In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were.”

“It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage,” Justice Kennedy said of the couples challenging state bans on same-sex marriage. “Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.”27scotus4_hp-master675

“I just wanted to say congratulations,” Obama said as CNN broadcast his warm words to Obergefell over speakerphone. He added: “Your leadership on this has changed the country.”

Speaking at the White House later in the morning, Obama said “Americans should be very proud.”

The ceremony was held at Morris Chapel in Stockton, California. Inside and out, Morris Chapel offers one of the most picturesque settings for your wedding. With beautiful stained-glass windows, arched entryways, deep stained woodwork and massive columns, the Chapel sets the mood for the most romantic day of your life and stands as one of the most beautiful wedding sites in San Joaquin County. The Reception was held at Brookside Farmhouse in Stockton, California

Stephanies bridal gown was by Designer Maggie Sottero and was bought at Mira Bridal Couture in Modesto, California. Her Bridesmaids dresses were also bought there from the Watters Collection.

We loved the choice of floral! The bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, and cake decor made the entire ceremony and reception come to life! Floral was done by Silveria’s Flowers & Gifts and centerpieces by Torchio Nursery. Photographer Joleen Willis captured every detail perfectly.

“Baby fall into my kiss, It should just happen like this.” George Strait

Kerrie & Keith Schroyer

Married August 30th, 2014

Meet Kerrie & Keith Shroyer.

Keith and Kerrie got engaged on February 16th in San Francisco at Crissy Field. The couple had gone to this very spot overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge on multiple occasions to picnic and enjoy the coastal breeze. Keith completely surprised Kerrie with the proposal, and captured the incredible moment by having his brother in disguise take pictures as it all played out.

The wedding planning process, of only 6 short months, went by incredibly fast. Kerrie selected the perfect dress on March 1st, before the couple had even chosen a location. Keith and Kerrie had the most trouble with choosing a location and had some venues laugh when we said we wanted a 2014 date. When we found Spring Creek, they knew right away that this was the location. The staff, the food, everything was perfect.

The inspiration for the look for the couple’s celebration came from Kerrie’s love of rustic and Keith’s sophisticated, classic, almost-vintage taste. The one element Kerrie knew she wanted was a special car. Her uncle has a collection of old vintage cars, and as soon as she was engaged Kerrie asked him if she could borrow one to drive in on with her dad. He knew immediately which car he wanted to lend them – a beautifully restored 1949 convertible Cadillac.

Kerrie’s favorite part of the wedding was walking down the aisle and seeing her future husband’s face – she had never seen him smile so big. The best part of the planning process was probably seeing the vision they both had come to life. Keith and Kerrie also enjoyed being a part of the planning process together, where they learned to make decisions together, as a team.
