In April of 2014 Matt and Kendra were discussing ways to celebrate her birthday. Not wanting to plan anything, Kendra asked Matt to make it a surprise. The next day Kendra was unsure of what to wear since it was a surprise, so she called him and he suggested jeans, boots, and a sweatshirt. Shortly after, he picked Kendra up, and they went to the Oakdale almond ranch of a family to which Matt wanted to introduce Kendra. Matt has always talked about the beautiful sunsets in the country and wanted to share them with her.
The evening Matt planned included target shooting, BBQ dinner, music, and a bottle of wine. As they took a break from shooting and sat down to eat, Matt said, ” Did you hear that? I need to go set up my spotting scope.” They had heard coyotes and wanted to be able to look at them in distance. He went to set up his scope, sighted it in, and came back and sat down.
While watching the sunset Matt went back to look in his scope to see if he could see any coyotes. “Kendra come look at this. I see the coyote den. They are going to come out anytime,” Matt expressed with excitement. Kendra quickly stood up and peered through the scope. Yet it wasn’t a coyote den she spotted. In the distance was a sign posted to a telephone pole that read, “Will you marry me.” When Kendra turned around, Matt was on one knee. Kendra Joyfully said “YES”!
