Real Wedding~Jessica & Thomas

Married June 10, 2017

NATURAL BEAUTY

“Thomas and I agreed from the beginning that this was our day,” explains Jessica. “We didn’t want high expectations to interrupt our joy and excitement surrounding our wedding.” Finding a venue to match their taste was quickly becoming a challenge for the couple. After several visits to various locations, Thomas mentioned to Jessica that a friend’s ranch might be the perfect spot, and it was. “I could immediately picture having all of our family and friends there and knew that it wouldn’t take much to transform the place into our perfect reception venue.”

A cathedral in the forest created by Redwoods, and a glowing canopy of strung lights, allowed the couple to create a romantic backdrop for their closest friends and family to celebrate.Farm tables blanketed with olive leaf garland, handmade by friends the morning of the wedding, paired with beguiling tin can floral arrangements reflected the couple’s desire. “We received so many compliments on how we decorated and how perfect it reflected our style.”

Real Wedding~Kristen & Tyler

Married August 26, 2017
Kristen and Tyler dated throughout their senior year of high school, but as the school year neared its end reality set in as the school year neared the end that Kristen would be moving to San Francisco for college. Tyler had plans to play baseball for Fresno State. Even though their short-term plans had them living miles apart, they never doubted the strength of their relationship and knew that their future was together.

“The summer before starting college Tyler mentioned over ice cream, ‘We should get married after college.’ I think I laughed, kissed him, and kept eating my ice cream-cone,” explains Kristen. “Tyler has always been a man of his word, and I don’t know why I didn’t think twice about that comment. The rocky road must have been distracting me. Only two months after his college graduation he popped the question. The 26th of August 2017 our vows and some lip-locking was exchanged and we officially became Mr. and Mrs. Bettencourt!”
Kristen, in marketing as a Social Media Influencer, Tyler, now a Personal Trainer and Physical Therapy Aid, chose to keep their ceremony and reception close to home. Their source of inspiration came from their hometown church in Patterson, CA.

“I always pictured a bed of white florals at Mary’s feet and taking a moment to pray with my husband before the conclusion of our ceremony and beginning our new life together.”

“The color white is a symbol of purity, as well as respect and reverence, which are traits we want to carry with us into our marriage,” says Kristen. “The most important aspect of our wedding was promising our lives to each other in front of all our loved ones, but most importantly in front of God. When I learned green symbolizes renewal and promise of new life the vision for our wedding florals came easily. It had to be all white florals with overflowing romantic greenery.” Old world elegance with a modern twist seemed fitting for the couple. “Tyler and I are pretty traditional, “yet we’re 25 and youthful.” Kristen selected stylish floor length bridesmaid’s dresses in black by Calvin Klein for her fun-loving bridesmaids. Tyler, alongside his eight groomsmen, stuck to time-honored elegance with black Vera Wang tuxedos.
The wedding party’s style coupled with soft gold details throughout The Century would embrace a balance of the vintage architecture and furniture the pair selected.

“Exposed brick, and wooden elements throughout the reception such as our rectangular farm tables and arbor above our sweet heart table brought the natural look we desired,” explains Kristen. “The mix of elegant florals, luxurious ivory linens, and creamy candle light painted the perfect picture in order to transport our guests into a romantic wonderland.”

“Tyler and I really wanted to add fun personal details sprinkled throughout our wedding and bring forward our culture and youthful side,” explains Kristen. ‘We figured everyone loves social media and will be sharing the wonderful moments throughout the night, so we had an illustration made of us as bride and groom and placed on a Snapchat filter for our guests.”

“We wanted our favors to truly express Tyler and me. Tyler’s culture is Portuguese, mine is Mexican,” explains Kristen. “We wanted everyone to have a taste of our culture by trying our favorite signature cookies in custom favor boxes, paired with our favorite coffee beans from our bay area coffee house, Philz.”

Celebrations continued into the evening with a late night self-serve S’mores bar, The Platinum Photo Booth set-up with black and white photos for the guests, and glow sticks lighting up the room as Kristen and Tyler’s closest friends and family joined them on the dance floor. Making a sparkling exit, the couple kissed under the glimmer. Kristen expressed, “it was the perfect kiss goodnight to our wedding day!”

Real Wedding ~ Deidre & Darren

Married June 3, 2017

Deidre and Darren might have first locked eyes at Kohl’s, where the two worked in 2012, but it was their flirtatious chemistry that sealed the deal. “It was always endless laughs, flirting, and deep conversations,” explains Deidre.

When the Sonora couple decided to wed, they immediately knew Deidre’s grandparent’s property in Jamestown would be the perfect venue. Deidre loved the natural beauty of the property and wanted to select colors and decor that would not interrupt the allure of the scenery.

The bridesmaids wore navy blue chiffon and strands of garland and wreaths set the table. The couple had support from friends and family while planning their wedding and looking back couldn’t be more grateful. “It was perfect,” expressed Deidre. “It was a heartfelt day full of many emotions.”

Real Wedding ~ Linda & Edward

Married October, 22 2016

“When planning the wedding the look I had in mind simple elegance. I wanted to stick with the classic colors, black and white, and added hints of gold here and there,” explains Linda. “Pinterest was a huge help. I went to each appointment knowing what I already wanted which made everything flow so much easier.”

“If I could give any one piece of advice to future brides it would be to take a moment at your reception to really just take it all in. The planning process is so long and can be frustrating at times but it truly does flies by! When the day of your wedding comes, make sure you look at your partner and bask in the hard work you did to put it all together,” explains Linda. “Enjoy the fact that you have a room full of people who are there to celebrate your love and commitment to each other. It is so easy to get caught up in the “timeline” of day, that you forget to enjoy it and take it all in with your new husband!”

Real Wedding ~ Rebecca & Adam

Married September 24, 2016

After months of house shopping, Rebecca and Adam decided to drive by one of Rebecca’s favorite homes on the market. As they pulled up, Rebecca was heartbroken to see the house had a “Sale Pending” sign. Adam convinced Rebecca to take one last look, just in case. Rebecca walked in and was immediately greeted by two banners. “Welcome Home,” and “The Schott’s”. She turned to find Adam on bended knee. During his heartfelt proposal, Adam told Rebecca a story she had never heard. Days before Rebecca’s father had passed away, Adam asked for her father’s blessing. A year later, he decided to purchase the house of her dreams as a surprise. Rebecca was overwhelmed with joy.

Planning kicked in immediately with help from Rebecca and Adam’s mothers. “I went to a bridal store in Campbell, CA and thought I found my dream dress. It was the third dress I tried on, explains Rebecca.” “When we went back three months later to pick it up. I put it on and I just felt so upset. It wasn’t my dress. My mom knew something was wrong and told me we would find the right wedding gown. The next day we made an appointment at Mira Bridal Couture and I found my dream dress within minutes. It was the most beautiful dress I’d ever seen and I felt like Cinderella in it. I still am so in love with it! Mira saved my wedding.”

From that point on, all if the wedding planing was simple. For their wedding venue, Rebecca and Adam booked the Galas Barn in Oakdale, CA.  Shades of lavender were selected for the bridesmaids and blush pink and ivory for the floral arrangements. “I have simple and clean taste which played a big role in my decorating and I wanted the least amount of clutter as possible,” says Rebecca. Simplicity was key. “Our wedding was perfect and exactly how we wanted it to be. It truly was the best night ever.”

Featured Wedding ~ Kaitlin & Camilo

Married March 25, 2017

Kaitlin and Camilo met each other in PE class on their first day of high school. The two clicked instantly and remained good friends over the next four years, then went their separate ways for a year just before Camilo joined the Air Force. “We reunited just after Camilo registered for the United States Air Force”, explains Kaitlin. “Our friendship turned into romance immediately.”

“Our planning process was tricky,” says Kaitlin. “In April of 2016 Camilo and I were stationed in Minot, North Dakota. We decided to plan our 2017 wedding in Modesto because we both grew up there and all of our friends and family were there. Since we were over 1500 miles away, I turned to my mother, Mira. She has been in the wedding industry for over ten years, so of course it made perfect sense to have her plan with us.”

Kaitlin worked closely with her mother and expressed her ideas for decor, fashion, the guest list, food, and music. Through hundreds of text messages and emails, Mira was confident she understood their vision. Kaitlin and Camilo flew home for the holidays and spent several days squeezing in appointments with venues, caterers, photographers, and their DJ. They finalized their wedding party attire, and of course, Kaitlin found her wedding gown at her mother’s bridal salon.

The bridesmaids wore floor length Dessy dresses in blush, her mother served at Matron of Honor and wore a champagne and blush ombré sequin gown, and the groomsmen in black tie tuxedos.

The couple selected The Century in downtown Modesto for their wedding venue. “I traveled to New York Bridal Fashion Week with my mom several years ago,” says Kaitlin. “We stayed in the cutest four-story brownstone, and when Camilo and I walked into The Century for the first time I was reminded of New York’s brick structures highlighted by the city lights at night. It was perfect!”

Kaitlin has been fortunate to grow up in the wedding industry, making it easier to select some of the vendors she hired. One of the first vendors she hired was George, the owner of Sounds in Motion DJ. Kaitlin has known George and his wife Erin since she was ten years old and she was thrilled to have him emcee the entire night; and since Erin is the owner of The Century, Kaitlin knew she would be in good hands.

Following the ceremony, guests were entertained by local musician Neil Buettner, The Platinum Photo Booth, and tray passed hors d’oeuvres.  Hand made scrolls with each guests name hung from the champagne flutes filled with pink bubbly as everyone was escorted to the reception.

The evening was intimate, with a selective guest list of 90. Ghost chairs lined the aisle with a variety of ivory flower arrangements and candles. Six flower girls dressed in mix and match beaded and feathered tutu dresses with capes dropping rose petals as they preceded the bride.

Kaitlin wore an elegant Martina Liana gown with an illusion racerback and grand train with lace-edge detailing. Kaitlin was escorted by her father, and her mother served as Matron of Honor.

A special treat for Kaitlin was their three tier round wedding cake. Debra from Creative Cakes by Deb has been making cakes for Kaitlin since her 13th birthday and it was meaningful for her to have Debra create her wedding cake too. Kaitlin and Camilo chose red velvet and chocolate layers draped in ivory and gold frosting.

Throughout the planning process my mom would send pictures that included her dropping our Save the Dates in the mailbox, the assembly line of invitations she worked for hours on, and various add-ons she was pulling together. It was difficult to not be there with her but we could not have pulled off such an ornate and stylish affair,” explains Kaitlin. “We are forever grateful.”

Shortly after their wedding, Camilo was deployed. Kaitlin temporarily moved back to Modesto to be close to her friends and family until her husband returns safe.  Congratulations to Kaitlin and Camilo and thank you for your service.

Featured Wedding ~ Marissa &  Wyatt

Married August 28, 2016

After four happy years together, Marissa and Wyatt decided it was time to tie the knot. They organized a secluded “backyard picnic style wedding” at Vintage Gardens, and invited some of their closest family and friends – who had no idea the couple would be getting married.

The guests believed they were attending the couples engagement party and were caught by surprise when queued by Cat Power’s “Sea of Love”, Marissa suddenly appeared, escorted by her father, walking through the grand redwood doors. Wyatt anxiously waited at the gazebo accompanied by Marissa’s step-father, who officiated their ceremony.  Following their nuptials, the couple immediately moved to the dance floor as “Sleepwalk” by Santo & Johnny played as their first dance.

Marissa and Wyatt pulled off their covert operation to perfection, with a charming and intimate setting, sweet DIY decor, vintage tablecloths, and home cooked comfort food. Marissa’s grandmother and uncles made her favorite fried chicken and home made mashed potatoes, paired perfectly with corn bread Wyatt had made.

For two months, the couple worked late into the evening planning their surprise event. “Somehow we pulled it off,” Marissa explains, ”it was the most incredible evening made possible through personal connections, fueled by love”.

Marissa and Wyatt leaned to their friends and family for much of the party planning. Ashley from Camp 4 Wine Cafe’ created the Cheese & Charcuterie boards, and their friend Amanda made the hand drawn calligraphy window panes. Other DIY projects included wine bottle flower vases and vintage picnic baskets and blankets.

Get Inspired ~ Alex & William

Married May 27, 2017

A rustic themed wedding is always popular, but mixed with a little romance it’s perfection!

With an air of free-spirited whimsy paired with a bohemian elegance, Alex’s sexy lace-over-Imperial-Crepe sheath wedding dress from Mira Bridal Couture let her show off her sexy curves while letting her move with ease at their outdoor affair. The details, scalloped lace hem, and on-trend dramatic low back had William wowed!

Alex ordered rustic wood signage from Paper and Pine Co on Etsy that complimented the specialty furniture rentals from AZCO Rustic Designs & Rentals.

Hanna Overholtzer of Bella Fleur created a breathtaking display of soft floral and greenery garland as the tablescape. Fruitwood wood chiavari chairs complemented the natural surroundings.

Alex and William entertained their guest during their first dance to Thomas Rhett’s, “Die a Happy Man”.

“I don’t need no vacation, No fancy destination

Baby, you’re my great escape

We could stay at home, Listen to the radio

Or dance around the fireplace

Baby, I could die a happy man”

Featured Wedding~Victoria Popoff & Devin Hill

Married October 4, 2016

Victoria and Devin first met when they both worked at Brenda Athletic Club. Devin was a certified personal trainer, and Victoria was the group exercise director and Pilates instructor. With many mutual friends, their paths crossed on multiple occasions. Victoria describes their attraction as irresistible:

“Our relationship is like a magnet, a force we had no choice over.” During their first date, they both knew it was different, and the topic of marriage didn’t scare either of them. Their love progressed quickly, and they announced their engagement just a few months after their first date.

“We wanted to give our guests undivided attention in each setting. At our family-only wedding, we wanted to be respectful of our parents’ conservative and religious backgrounds,” explained Victoria.

“With under 30 guests, it made for a small, intimate day that gave us quality time with each family member as we had hoped for.”

The couple knew they wanted a romantic wedding and reception on the beach but also knew everyone they were inviting could not travel in such a short time frame, so they planned three separate wedding events. The first was a  private ceremony and brunch on her parents’ property, which would include family only.

Long wooden benches created the aisle Victoria’s father escorted her down. She carried a delicate bouquet of dried lavender which paired nicely with her soft off-the-shoulder Ruca Lace gown by Watters that she found at Mira Bridal Couture. In a navy blue Hugo Boss suit, Devin watched every step she took. Victoria’s adopted brother, Alex, carried a hand-built Lego ring holder with Princess Leah and Hans Solo figurines inspired by Devin’s love for Star Wars.

After their “I do’s”, the couple escorted family to a farm table draped in natural elements, moss, succulents, place cards held by natural Wood rose flowers, and a collection of Blue Spode China, a third generation family heirloom. Favors included individual bags filled with Clayton’s Coffee and custom mugs personalized by West Coast Promotions.

After brunch, the family enjoyed outdoor games, including life-size Jenga, Connect Four and Cornhole.

“Our dream was to be married on the beach, with our closest friends,

so we planned our destination wedding and celebration with 28 of our closest

friends a week after our family wedding.”

Tucked between two scenic bluffs overlooking the Sea of Cortez, Victoria’s uncle escorted her down the stairs of the Esperanza Resort to the private beach where Devin stood. Victoria chose to keep her wedding-day look uncomplicated, unfussy, and incredibly effortless in a plunging back ivory crepe gown by Willowby Watters that she found at her long-time friend Mira’s bridal salon in downtown Modesto.

Reflecting the setting, Victoria wanted her hair timeless, so her hair stylist Noel created soft mermaid waves that draped around her shoulders and she carried an organic cascading bouquet of greenery and ivory roses. The couple wrote their own vows and the ceremony was officiated by Victoria’s childhood Australian pen-pal Lisa, who flew in just for the occasion.

Instead of including bridesmaids and groomsmen, the couple decided to ask their guests to dress in a neutral palette, which included ivory, beige, and gray. With the sunset and the ocean views establishing an atmosphere of earthly elegance, they decided to mirror this theme in their decor for the cliff side reception on the resort’s Seaside Terrace.

A family-style rustic wooden table created a warm and intimate dinner. Personalized menus and monogrammed linens were just a few of the personal touches added to their decor. Award-winning musician from the Central Valley, Neil Buettner played during dinner. Afterward, guests enjoyed the fresh aromatic cigars rolled on the spot and danced under the stars. The evening ended when Victoria surprised Devin with a stunning fireworks display over the high tide of the ocean.

Several weeks later, the newly married couple hosted a wedding celebration on the Vine Arbor of Galletto Ristorante. Friends enjoyed hand-passed Hors d’ Oeuvres, music by The Nines, and three-layer pleated buttercream cake.

We were thrilled to select Victoria as the cover for this issue. Congratulations, Victoria and Devin Hill!

Featured Wedding~Hazel & Alan Chuop

Married September 24, 2016

Hazel and Alan’s ceremony was held at St. Joseph’s Church in Modesto, California, and the reception followed at The Century in Downtown Modesto. As soon as Hazel saw the venue, she knew that it would match the theme that she had in mind: Rustic Romance.
Putting her own flair on the theme, Hazel included succulents into her bouquet of ivory and pink roses and hydrangeas as well as in the men’s boutonnières. Her bridesmaids were dressed in sea foam green chiffon, which offset the bride’s stunning wedding gown: a tulle ballgown with a slight cap sleeve, beaded illusion back and a gorgeous cathedral-length veil.

At the reception, the room was decorated with tall, gold candelabras with ivory hydrangeas and pink roses. The couple was thrilled with their beautiful ceremony and reception and knew that because they had kept faith in one another and in God, they were truly blessed.
