Featured Wedding~Emilie & Michael Sorensen

Married October 22, 2016

“Life was like a box of chocolates.” ~ Forest Gump

Destiny has a way of making itself apparent. When Emilie and Michael, watching Forrest Gump on their first date, discovered they shared the same favorite movie , they knew they were destined to be together.

Seven months into their eight-month engagement, Emilie had gotten a hefty chunk of the wedding planning out of the way and was surprised to find that she was enjoying herself! Having spent her time in the wedding industry modeling wedding gowns for Mira Bridal Couture, working for The Platinum Photo Booth and Sounds in Motion DJ, Emilie had the process down and was able to book the vendors she and Michael wanted with little stress. Therefore Emilie and her family embarked on the DIY projects and created beautiful and meaningful wedding favors which included caramel apples with a tag saying “He picked her. She picked him.” Tasty and simple.

Emilie and Michael wanted to keep their wedding unique, simple, and classic, and went with a vintage-glam theme. Colors of ivory, gold, and black kept it classic while golden feathers and items inspired by the film Forrest Gump helped to tie the theme in with their favorite movie and first date. Emilie arranged the seating chart, and the guest book, which brought her vintage-glam Forrest Gump theme together perfectly, placing pictures of her and Michael in an antique photo holder with quotes from their beloved movie. Emilie found her beautiful wedding gown at Mira Bridal Couture, an a-line creation with beaded lace, a fitted bodice, and voluminous tulle skirt which captured the theme of her wedding with its vintage appeal and fit. Their gorgeous wedding bands from Ciccarelli Jewelers were stunning and flawless. Everything was coming together seamlessly, just as Michael and Emilie had.

On the evening of October 22nd, with Sounds in Motion playing their music, the couple danced their first dance as husband and wife to “Into the Mystic” by Van Morrison, a song that represented love, spirituality and destiny for the newlyweds. With an old vintage suitcase, a box of chocolates, and golden feathers, Emilie and Michael included their favorite quote from their favorite movie…
“I don’t know if we each have a destiny, or it we’re all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze. But I think maybe it’s both, maybe both is happening at the same time.” For Emilie and Michael Sorensen, their sweet life together was just beginning.

Laken & Nelson Furtado

Married July 20, 2013

BrideandGroom-106Laken and Nelson met in the fall of 2006 through mutual friends. They were very good friends until Thanksgiving 2009 when Nelson declared his love for Laken and the romance began.
Planning a wedding with a guest list of over 300 wasn’t as stressful as Laken thought it would be.  Fiore Event Design helped and did so much, especially with all the little details that are often overlooked.  The couple told them their tastes, what they liked and didn’t like, and the team at Fiore Event Design would present ideas for the couple to approve. Laken’s aunt, Norik, (who was also her Matron of Honor) helped a with final decision-making and it was great for the couple to always have her there as a second opinion.
Choosing the venue was easy because it was held in Laken’s grandparents’ backyard.  Nelson and Laken wanted to keep the wedding closer for the families and felt it was the perfect location, the backyard had many memories and meaning to it.  The couple aimed for the rustic garden theme and the backyard came equipt with an amazing garden already the couple was careful to no overdo it with the center pieces and décor.  Details-102
Nelson and Laken chose the color coral as there is so much greenery in the backyard and they knew the two would complement each other well.  Laken has always been a huge glitter and jewel person and she loved how Fiore tastefully incorporated some large broaches on the flower vases.Details-16For Nelson and Laken, everything turned out better than they could have ever imagined and they have their family, Fiore, and everyone who helped make that day possible to thank for that!Formals-119

Meghan and Nick Bohr

In 2009 Meghan thought she was reaching for another when she accidentally caught Nick by surprise. With in a month the couple knew they had found love. While driving one day, Meghan casually said, “So I want to get married in September (it was September 2009) do you want to get married this next September or September 2011?” Nick replied, “I can’t wait 2 years to marry you.” So the planning began. With in no time, the gown was ordered, the venue selected the music booked, but the ring was still missing. They had picked one out but no formal proposal had occurred. Until one romantic night in San Francisco. After seeing Cirque de Soleil, Nick surprised Meghan on their hotel balcony, bent on one knee. Just as she had she had dreamed about.

Meghan and Nick incorporated many personal touches in their September 10, 2010 wedding. Because of her Italian heritage and the intimate scenery, they chose Galletto’s Ristorante as their venue. Orchids have always been Meghan’s favorite flower and had envisioned them as her wedding flower since she was a little girl. Her Nonno Leonard, (great grandpa) grew Orchids in his garden in Menlo Park while growing up so Meghan decided on orchids and looked to the Patterson High School Advanced Floral Class to pull together her Martha Stewart inspired potted orchids with Nick and Meghan’s initial tied to the stems.
On the day of their wedding, Meghan’s Noni, (grandmother), presented her with her grandfather’s Olympic gold ring he received in the 1992 Barcelona games. Her grandfather was the Coordinator for the USA Olympic soccer team before passing years later. Meghan wore the ring pinned to the top of her gown signifying the close relationship she had with him. For her bridal bouquet, Meghan clutched a rosary that was given to her as a child from her Aunt. As a symbol of good luck and remembering Meghan’s favorite animal, her Maid-of-Honor gave her an elephant charm to pin to her garter.

In their efforts to continue the personal touches, the couple chose Devenda Banhart’s “Baby” for the wedding party to shuffle down the aisle to and Meghan walked to the sounds of Sugur Ros. After the ceremony, guests mingled before dinner and signed fabric squares for a family quilt in place of a guest book. The potted orchids filled the room as center pieces amongst the tables named after Italian cities.  “I felt like the luckiest woman in the world that day,” she explains as she re-caps the touching memories. All of this, because she mistakenly reached for someone else but touched Nick.

Dana and Nick Seefeldt

In the words of the Bride; “Our wedding day was one of absolute perfection, even when every detail didn’t go according to plan.  I was in awe of what an amazing day our wedding turned out to be.

Of course, all the smaller details would be designed closer to the arrival of our big day, but I knew what I wanted our ceremony and reception to look like from the moment Nick and I were engaged.

Nick and I both come from large families so the venue was a hard decision to make.  We knew we wanted a more intimate setting and knew that the Galletto’s Vine Arbor patio would suit us perfectly. From the guest numbers it could accommodate to the ambiance, it had exactly the look and feel of what we wanted our day to be.

Choosing vendors who came highly recommended (and that I felt comfortable with) was the smartest decision I made throughout our planning process. Each of them made me feel so at ease and I knew every single one of them would live up to their excellent reputations.

We chose navy blue, apple green and ivory as our color palette and it photographed beautifully.  The girls wore navy dresses and carried bouquets in the apple-green color family.  The apple-green definitely gave the event the spring feel that I was going for.

It took my breath away how everything came together and how perfect it all turned out to be.  Though we had some minor hiccups, mishaps and a few rain-drops, our wedding day was everything we had envisioned.  Nick and I were able to share our love with the ones that we love most.”
