Caroline & Jared Silveira

Married June 7, 2014Caroline & Jared by Kori & Jared www.bridalcouturemag.comAfter a three year courtship, Jared proposed to Caroline on the waters edge in Carmel, CA. Within a few days the planning was in full-force.Caroline & Jared by Kori & Jared

The couple assumed they wanted a  outdoor-country feel but after visiting several venues they quickly realized that was not the right style or theme for their wedding day.  Caroline visited The River Mill with her soon-to-be mother-in-law after her mother found the venue on-line. She immediately knew she found the perfect location.

Caroline & Jared by Kori & Jared www.bridalcouturemag.comOnce they had the venue booked, everything else fell into place. With a French Country theme set, Caroline referenced her Pinterest boards for ideas. She knew she wanted a pop of color to play off of the romantic gardens at The River Mill and was hoping to add succulents to the mix. Inspired by this she decided on coral and mint as her primary wedding colors.Caroline & Jared by Kori & Jared www.bridalcouturemag.comShopping for her gown was a simple process. Caroline took her mother, sister, and soon-to-be mother-in-law and 5 dresses into her appointment she found the perfect gown.  Completed with a two-tier veil edged with beading to match her gown Caroline’s look was complete.Caroline & Jared by Kori & Jared www.bridalcouturemag.comCaroline & Jared by Kori & Jared

She was excited to share something from her late grandmother so her mother used her grandmother’s old jewelry suitcase as the wedding card box, labeled with a card, “Grandmother Mary’s Suitcase”.Caroline & Jared by Kori & Jared

Rachel & John Flick

Married March 15, 2014

Rachel & John Flick by Matthew James Photographers On her parent’s 23rd wedding anniversary during a trip to Seattle, John proposed to Rachel at the top of the Space Needle. Wedding planning began immediately.

John had enlisted into the Marine Corps and would be away at Boot Camp starting in December 2013 so the couple set the date for March 15, 2014 after he would return. In his absence, Rachel’s mother stepped in to help with the planning process. Rachel and John selected soft colors, a DIY feel, and a patriotic vibe.

Rachel sent John small craft ideas, photos, and letters with her progress and upon  his quick return the year long engagement flourished into our wedding day.

Their March wedding date was perfect. The sun was out and the weather was flawless. The couple decided to write their own vows which brought tears to all of their wedding guest. John’s grandfather was our officiant and personalized the ceremony making it the most intimate and personal group of words heard by many of the guests. Rachel & John Flick by Matthew James Photographers“From the thumb-print tree guest book to the sparkler send off, “Rachel said. “Every single part of our wedding day was absolutely perfect!”

5 Things No One Ever Mentions About Planning your Wedding!

People are always telling you not to sweat the small stuff when it comes to your wedding. But sometimes it’s the small stuff that can add up and cause a hiccup on your big day. In between all the cake tasting conversations and the dress talk, here are five important things you might not have considered. Beau & Rachelle via Kori & Jared
1. Plan on buying a bunch of thank-you gifts
Everyone knows that you’re supposed to get your bridal party thank-you gifts. What most forget is buying a thank you gift for your flower girls, ring bearer, mother’s and father’s, and those that are helping outside of your hired vendor list. If you’re on a budget, this can quickly add up. Instead, try having a brunch or a fun outing with everyone involved in the planning. This will give you the opportunity to thank everyone and possibly in a more intimate setting when you are not running around fulfilling weddings duties.

2. You’ll be sleep deprived for a bit
If you have a hectic work schedule and a lot of wedding planning to do, be prepared for a ton of sleepless nights. Oh, and apparently wedding nightmares are pretty normal too. This may be a great time to turn the average dinner-date with your  fiancé into date-yoga. Yoga or another form of exercise will help you rest and he’ll appreciate it too.

3. You’ll need to schedule in alone time with your groom
Whether you have 80 guests or 300, you are going to feel a bit overwhelmed the day of your wedding. Time will fly by and before you know it the day is complete. Taking a step back to really appreciate everything you and your fiancé have planned is important. Plan on scheduling at least 15 minutes without your photographer or videographer around, perhaps after your ceremony, to take in the moment with your new husband.

4. Unlike in the movies, planning a wedding isn’t always a fairy tale
Planning a wedding is a lot of work, especially if you want something unique and fun. You are going to be faced with tons of decisions, and the quicker you are at making those decisions, the faster the entire process will be. Stay away from the idea that you have to try on 20+ gowns at multiple bridal salons or the thought of spending hours online searching for “cheap” options. Before you know it you’ll find yourself obsessed with all things weddings and loose focus of it all.  Staying organized and keeping with the vision you and your fiancé started with will lower your stress levels and keep all of your “helpful” friends and family in line with your goals.

5. You’ll need to have a plan in place for everything — including toasts
A backup plan in case it rains? Check! A security plan for drunk guests? Check! But what about a plan for guests who like to talk too much — who will intervene?  To keep toasts to a minimum, be clear with your DJ or MC on who will toast and when. Having guidelines will prevent never ending toasts.
