Eden was in nursing school and Garrett was in his second year of anesthesia residency, both living in San Francisco. Garrett saw a picture of eden in scrubs at Children’s Hospital of Oakland and knew they would share some common interests.

It wasn’t long after they met that they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. With challenging schedules, they struggled finding time off together, but in early May 2014 Garrett planned a coastal road trip to Santa Barbara.

The couple decided on a late Spring wedding and fell in love with Wine and Roses during their first visit. They loved the garden area for their ceremony, the ballroom for their reception and The Cellar Room made for a perfect on location rehearsal dinner. With many friends and family traveling in for the big day, the guest rooms allowed for everyone to extend their stay for the weekend.

The beautiful and charming setting at Wine and Roses inspired the blush pinks and candlelight decor. Soft, romantic and timeless themes were important to Eden and Garrett. Working closely with their vendors, sharing images and describing their vision was easier than expected. The only challenge was Garrett living in San Francisco most of the time, but Eden’s mother stepped in when needed and helped make sure the planning went smoothly.

Featured Wedding ~ Savannah & Marcus McIlwain

Married May 23, 2015

East Lake Ranch, Turlock CA30

29As seen on the recent cover of Bridal Couture Magazine, Savannah and Marcus McIlwain. Savannah and Marcus were acquaintances and had many mutual friends, but the idea of dating had never crossed their minds. After school, Savannah moved to Southern California, and Marcus went to play Division 1 football at The University of Arkansas at Monticello. An innocent online conversation started what would soon be a long lasting love.

In December 2012, both Savannah and Marcus moved back to their hometown of Modesto. They became inseparable. A short time into their relationship Marcus introduced his two year old son to Savannah. Savannah embraced him immediately and it was at this point they realized their family had just been created. The couple purchased their first home in early 2014, and just a few short months later, Marcus planned a proposal that to this day leaves Savannah speechless.

Marcus had planned a special day of pampering for Savannah, starting off with a facial. As she arrived to the spa room, she found a note from Marcus that read, “Roses are red, violets are blue, enjoy your day, this day is all about you.” The final event of a well-planned day was a private dinner in the wine cellar at Galletos Ristorante in Modesto. Savannah was escorted downstairs and as she turned the corner Marcus and Noah were standing waiting. Noah held a sign that read, “Will you marry my daddy?”

The wedding date was set for one year later. Savannah had dreamt about her wedding day since she was a little girl and always knew she would be very hands-on and DIY. Crafting was a hobby for her, so many elements would be a natural creation. She wanted to avoid any type of “themed” wedding, instead keeping it timeless. Savannah wore a stunning Swarovski crystal beaded bodice ball gown. Her bridesmaids in classic black floor length gowns. Marcus and his groomsmen wore black-tie tuxedos. Their five ring bearers looked adorable  in black bow ties and suspenders, and their three little flower girls were precious in full a-line tulle gowns.

The couple incorporated many personal touches in the ceremony and reception, including their initials on the decor, much of which Savannah created herself. They strung plenty of market lights, which highlighted other light features that Savannah brought in herself. One of Savannah’s favorite personal touches was the garter toss. As a fun nod to Marcus’s background in football, they placed Savannah’s garter on a football for him to throw. Marcus scanned the crowd of single men, pointed out to an open pocket and made a successful pass to a lucky receiver.
