Featured Wedding~Victoria Popoff & Devin Hill

Married October 4, 2016

Victoria and Devin first met when they both worked at Brenda Athletic Club. Devin was a certified personal trainer, and Victoria was the group exercise director and Pilates instructor. With many mutual friends, their paths crossed on multiple occasions. Victoria describes their attraction as irresistible:

“Our relationship is like a magnet, a force we had no choice over.” During their first date, they both knew it was different, and the topic of marriage didn’t scare either of them. Their love progressed quickly, and they announced their engagement just a few months after their first date.

“We wanted to give our guests undivided attention in each setting. At our family-only wedding, we wanted to be respectful of our parents’ conservative and religious backgrounds,” explained Victoria.

“With under 30 guests, it made for a small, intimate day that gave us quality time with each family member as we had hoped for.”

The couple knew they wanted a romantic wedding and reception on the beach but also knew everyone they were inviting could not travel in such a short time frame, so they planned three separate wedding events. The first was a  private ceremony and brunch on her parents’ property, which would include family only.

Long wooden benches created the aisle Victoria’s father escorted her down. She carried a delicate bouquet of dried lavender which paired nicely with her soft off-the-shoulder Ruca Lace gown by Watters that she found at Mira Bridal Couture. In a navy blue Hugo Boss suit, Devin watched every step she took. Victoria’s adopted brother, Alex, carried a hand-built Lego ring holder with Princess Leah and Hans Solo figurines inspired by Devin’s love for Star Wars.

After their “I do’s”, the couple escorted family to a farm table draped in natural elements, moss, succulents, place cards held by natural Wood rose flowers, and a collection of Blue Spode China, a third generation family heirloom. Favors included individual bags filled with Clayton’s Coffee and custom mugs personalized by West Coast Promotions.

After brunch, the family enjoyed outdoor games, including life-size Jenga, Connect Four and Cornhole.

“Our dream was to be married on the beach, with our closest friends,

so we planned our destination wedding and celebration with 28 of our closest

friends a week after our family wedding.”

Tucked between two scenic bluffs overlooking the Sea of Cortez, Victoria’s uncle escorted her down the stairs of the Esperanza Resort to the private beach where Devin stood. Victoria chose to keep her wedding-day look uncomplicated, unfussy, and incredibly effortless in a plunging back ivory crepe gown by Willowby Watters that she found at her long-time friend Mira’s bridal salon in downtown Modesto.

Reflecting the setting, Victoria wanted her hair timeless, so her hair stylist Noel created soft mermaid waves that draped around her shoulders and she carried an organic cascading bouquet of greenery and ivory roses. The couple wrote their own vows and the ceremony was officiated by Victoria’s childhood Australian pen-pal Lisa, who flew in just for the occasion.

Instead of including bridesmaids and groomsmen, the couple decided to ask their guests to dress in a neutral palette, which included ivory, beige, and gray. With the sunset and the ocean views establishing an atmosphere of earthly elegance, they decided to mirror this theme in their decor for the cliff side reception on the resort’s Seaside Terrace.

A family-style rustic wooden table created a warm and intimate dinner. Personalized menus and monogrammed linens were just a few of the personal touches added to their decor. Award-winning musician from the Central Valley, Neil Buettner played during dinner. Afterward, guests enjoyed the fresh aromatic cigars rolled on the spot and danced under the stars. The evening ended when Victoria surprised Devin with a stunning fireworks display over the high tide of the ocean.

Several weeks later, the newly married couple hosted a wedding celebration on the Vine Arbor of Galletto Ristorante. Friends enjoyed hand-passed Hors d’ Oeuvres, music by The Nines, and three-layer pleated buttercream cake.

We were thrilled to select Victoria as the cover for this issue. Congratulations, Victoria and Devin Hill!

Vanessa & Zac Swanson

Married May 31, 2014View More: http://koriandjared.pass.us/2014-05-31-zac--vanessa-600
The real story began December 2008 at the City of Riverbank’s Benefit Faire where Zac and Vanessa met for the first time. After they exchanged a few rounds of playful eye contact and flirty smiles, with a little help from his fellow fire fighters Zac finally got the nerve to ask Vanessa for her phone number. Vanessa tried playing hard to get and said she could not get calls at work.  After another attempt, Vanessa agreed to meet Zac at the station when she got off work.  She kept her word and showed up at the station, and after a quick conversation, Vanessa finally gave in and gave Zac her number.View More: http://koriandjared.pass.us/2014-05-31-zac--vanessa-600

After Vanessa graduated college in 2011, she became very antsy about the next steps in their relationship. Zac assured Vanessa things would progress, however he wanted to make sure Vanessa was settled into her new job before they mentioned the topic of marriage. They had already purchased a home one year prior and Vanessa was ready. Towards the end of the 2012 fire season Zac had Vanessa convinced the proposal was not going to happen that year.

Everyone in attendance knew it was the proposal night, with the exception of Vanessa. Vanessa’s first clue should have been that Zac agreed to go to the party with her as Mickey and Minnie Mouse.View More: http://koriandjared.pass.us/2014-05-31-zac--vanessa-600
The party began normally, with a live band performing and a rowdy bunch of partygoers.  During the bands break, the lead singer performed a mini magic show. During the last trick of the show, the whole crowd gathered around watching as the acting magician approached Vanessa carrying a covered metal pan; the same metal pan that earlier contained a ball of fire and a fake snake. Vanessa was shocked and backed up in fear.    After a few moments, out from under the lid of the metal pan, Vanessa’s beautiful Engagement ring was revealed.   Zac grabbed the ring, got down on one knee and popped the question. After Vanessa stopped shaking, the lead singer asked Vanessa for her response…she said yes!

I would get so annoyed because I truly did not know what I wanted, other than not country chic,” Vanessa explained. “I wanted to be different and unique and be able to incorporate things that were “us”.”View More: http://koriandjared.pass.us/2014-05-31-zac--vanessa-600

Vanessa knew she wanted purple as her wedding color, but it wasn’t until after she found her chalkboard stationary on ETSY.com that she felt inspired and the details would come together.

Spending time together during their wedding day was important to the couple and they knew they  wanted to see each other before the ceremony. Vanessa thought the balloon reveal would be a fun way to get a sneak peak of each other.  “The emotion of seeing each other for the first time was great and the balloons and the wind gave it a silly twist,”said Vanessa. “The day wouldn’t have been the same without an appearance from our Pomeranian, Stooge in his purple polka dotted bow tie. Everything turned out so perfect, better than we ever imagined. We had a fabulous bridal party, supportive parents, great friends and amazing vendors.”View More: http://koriandjared.pass.us/2014-05-31-zac--vanessa-600

A Decade of Delectation

Cue “The Suite” by the Chamber Orchestra of London as we find wedding inspiration of the early 1900’s.

Those who loathe Lady Mary’s dreadful decisions are at the same time enraptured in her love for Matthew.  Amid tales of love, scandal and perfectly placed china, the Downton Abbey effect is much like the Real Housewives, but with proper etiquette and poise.

While most wedding details were not seen in the long awaited walk down the aisle, Lady Mary’s attire was not missed.  Consider these looks inspired by the Edwardian Era to set the tone for your long awaited nuptials.

Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2014

New York’s Bridal Fashion Week is coming to a close now. Our favorite week of the year. You know, the week when all of our favorite wedding dress designers including Anne Barge, Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de La Renta, and Vera Wang show their latest collections on the runway! We’ve got an all-access pass to the most beautiful bridal runway shows. Join us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to see it all.

Here is a peak  at the Anne Barge runway.

For the Spring 2014 collections, Anne was inspired by the romance of the past! Imagine the soft pastels and sense of lightness as evoked by the Impressionist painter, Claude Monet. In particular, Monet’s vision and breath-taking interpretations of his opulent gardens at Giverny, France. Silhouettes are inspired by Parisien Couturier Pierre Balmain. We invite you to fantasize about the airy gowns of Balmain’s 1950s gowns on the set of Monet’s paintings in the gardens of Giverny! Perfection!! Website – www.annebarge.com
